Intending to reward you for reading my offering this week with a lovely picture of a yellow interior, my searching landed on Morgan La Fey instead, and as is the way with the mood and the mind, I forgot my original purpose. I don’t know what exactly she’s doing, or to whom she might be doing it, but today being supposedly the most depressing day of the year thus far, I think we need to take on a bit of spell making. Here is a quick blog read about her, reminding us that she was King Arthur’s half sister and Queen of Avalon back in the day. The magical isle of Avalon (apple island in Welsh) is thought to be no lesser place than Glastonbury, and I very much enjoyed the AI take on it that I read this morning, which announced that ‘Glastonbury is an Island in Somerset surrounded by swampland.’ Please note the present tense. I imagine the swampland reference that good old Artificial Intelligence has leeched onto, has come from the many newspaper articles devoted to the wellington boots and mud that are as legendary as King Arthur in this neck of the woods. Thus, right in front of our eyes, a new myth about a very old place is born.
